The designer Maria B has once again found herself in the spotlight over her comments about transphobia. Maria B posted on Instagram stories to express her opinion on the current debate over the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act of2018, along with her two sisters Najia as well as Aafia.
The video shows Maria B expresses her worry about how this incident will impact her children.
"The first thing one must do is determine what the term "transgender" means. What is the world's most well-known transgender person in the world? We all know the story of Kim Kardashian's father and his daughter. He was her father at first before becoming her mother. The name he uses is Caitlyn Jenner" told Maria.
Maria declared that her Act included "transgenders" but not to "khwaja sira"
"No Absolutely not. This Act was specifically designed to serve the khwaja sira population. They're intersex, and there's a huge distinction in them from transgenders. In the Act that is the voice of the marginalized community, it's been 70 years when we're doing something to help transgenders, transgenders have abused their rights," she said.
People are criticising the designer for sharing her opinion about a marginalized community of which she herself is not a part. Take a look at the tweets:
My God, what a brazen display of ignorance. The Pakistani elite truly are a cancer, and cannot think beyond their bubbles of bullshit. 'Transgender law hamain kaisay affect karay ga' just fuck offhttps://t.co/fV7CLdVLYW

The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act of2018 has come under intense criticism from some sections of society during the past few weeks with two petitions also having been filed in the Federal Shariah Court against the Act.
The Bill was enacted in the year 2018 to guarantee transgenders equal rights to education, basic health facilities , issuance of CNICs and passport and giving them a right to vote and contest elections.
Earlier this year in August, Maria B complained about a trans activist being on the speaker’s panel at a talk in her son’s school.
