The former Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan identified PM Shehbaz Sharif the Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and an army officer Major General Faisal Naseer as perpetrators behind the attempt to assassinate him against Imran Khan in Wazirabad.
The chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has also demanded the resignation of the three leaders.
After the allegations, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) rejected the allegations and stated: "The baseless and irresponsible accusations made by the PTI's chairman PTI towards the organization, and in particular an officer in the top ranks of the army are totally unacceptable and uncalled for."
In a statement, calling PTI Chief Imran Khan's claims regrettable The ISPR declared that the honour and safety of its ranks and filial are being "tarnished by interest groups with vested interests". The ISPR will protect its soldiers and officers regardless of what the statement read.
"No person will be allowed to criticize the institution or its personnel without repercussions. With this in mind the government of Pakistan has been asked to investigate the issue and take legal action against those who are responsible for false accusations and defamation about the institute and staff with no evidence whatsoever," added the army's military wing in the announcement.
On the side of the government the federal ministers have are also criticizing Khan to be accused of blaming organizations of committing fraud without any proof.
Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said, "Not only Imran Khan made false allegations without evidence however, the reality is that the person who was responsible for the attack was in Punjab police custody and that the investigating was the duty of the Punjab government and not the federal government."
"For All's sake I ask you to not use the religious card. It's a risky path that could have grave implications," She emphasized.
Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said that Khan is a liar who cannot be trusted and that his entire interview with the media that he gave on the Friday evening was just "baseless accusations".
In an interview with the media the minister also stated that it was "very sad" the fact that Khan has identified people as the perpetrators of his assassination attempt without investigation or evidence.
The minister also said his opinion that this attack against the PTI march was an act of religious radicalism. But the minister believed that "PTI's behavior towards the incident is inexplicably and unacceptable."
