Twitter employees file lawsuit to prevent mishaps of Tesla layoffs

Former and current Twitter workers have filed an action class-action lawsuit against the company in the wake of an avalanche of job cuts in order to defend their rights.

This lawsuit was brought in response to being sent an email Thursday, which stated that employees would be informed via email on Friday if they were still employed.

The lawsuit claims that the employer did not inform employees 60 days prior to the imminent reduction in their jobs, in violation of lawful requirements of the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act.

Shannon Liss-Riordan, who was the lawyer in the Twitter layoff suit is also involved in related lawsuit in the case against Tesla Layoffs.

According to her report, when it came to Tesla, "employees were immediately requested to give up all of their rights in exchange for up to a week or two of severance compensation, even in the event that the state's and federal WARN Act requires 60 days of severance pay in the event of the possibility of a mass layoff."

However, this time Musk attempted to be in compliance with the law by providing 3 months of separation as part of an arrangement known as "pay instead or notice." However, the practice is in violation of the law.
